We have received word that the concert on Tuesday at Sir Wilfred Laurier is a go. The teacher’s job action will not affect the event. So, that is Tuesday, May 12th at 6pm. The concert is free!
As you know there is the probability of the elementary school teachers engaging in some form of job action starting on Monday, May 13th. As of this time, we don’t know what impact that will have. Please note the following:
- No Homework Club – Monday, May 11th – this is a scheduled PD Day
- Last Homework Club – Wednesday, May 13th (A Trip To Dairy Queen). This will take place no matter what job action is taken.
- The Hammer Band concert is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th at Sir Wilfred Laurier P.S. We don’t know if this will take place. We will notify the families involved if there are changes because of the school job action.
As of this time our other programming is still going ahead. But please check here or our facebook page for updates.
The Journey is proud to host violin lessons on Tuesdays right after school. The violin lessons were founded by a Toronto musician – Moshe Hammer, hence the name Hammer Band. So, this coming Monday, April 27th at 7pm, the CIA committee will meet. Everyone is welcome and there is a fresh pot of coffee on!

Tomorrow morning (Saturday, April 11th) from 9:00am to 12:00pm is a clothing exchange at North Bramalea United Church. I’m not sure why they call it an exchange, since you don’t have to bring clothes to trade, but anyway . . . come! If you have clothes to give away drop them off at the church this evening. If you need good used clothing, then come tomorrow morning.
North Bramalea’s address is: 363 Howden Blvd, Brampton, ON (905) 450-8003
You can find the church here: NBUC
We serve a community that has faced many tragedies and much sorrow. Today would have been Nicolas Gabriel’s 11 birthday. Tragically, Nicolas died in a house fire last June 8, 2014. We had the privilege of hosting a birthday celebration and remembrance with the Gabriel family and many community members this morning here at The Journey and at the cemetery. Please remember this community and the Gabriel family in particular. There are some pictures and posts on our facebook page.
